Summary of The Caddy
In the last episode, Dryden claims that Lindsay Denton was also in the car park where he and Carly Kirk were photographed together. On the other hand, Arnott goes undercover just like Fleming used to do before. While undercover, Arnott gets close to Lindsay Denton and in this course he finds out the pay-off money among those things that Denton took from her mother’s room.
Moreover, events that took place before the ambush are shown in a flashback: Dryden is followed by Lindsay Denton to the reception where he meets with Carly Kirk. Kirk tries to seduce Dryden. Also, Denton follows Kirk and Dryden to the car park after she has a short conversation with Kirk in the ladies’ room. In the car park she sees that Kirk fellate Dryden and finds out that she is working for Hunter.
After some days when Denton tries to approach Hunter, she is shocked to find out that he is accompanied by DS Akers. After that Akers pays a visit to Denton’s house and requests her to help him with the handing over of Hunter to his criminal associates because they want to kill him as they fear that Hunter will expose them under witness protection.
DS Akers finally convince Denton to assist him in this handover as he offers a pay-off. This arrangement also involves Cottan. Eventually two corrupt officers follow the police convoy using the tracker placed on Denton’s car and cause the ambush. In the ambush, Akers and Hunter are killed so that Cottan’s identity is protected while to take the blame, Denton is left alive.
Epilogue shows that Carly Kirk has fled to the unknown country and the buried body is not hers. Prasad reveals evidence against Denton in order to get minimum sentence in return. Morton comes clean, and is not suspected of any wrongdoing in this case. He keeps on his job of selling confidential information to the paper. Also he will retire on full pension after one year.
On the other hand, Dryden resigns from police force and is given a suspended sentence regarding his wife’s driving offense. While Denton is given a life sentence as she is convicted of conspiracy to commit murder. Cottan continues with AC-12, and Hunter’s murder case is investigated by Major Violent Crimes.

Review of The Caddy
The last episode of Season2! Line of Duty’s second season kept us all guessing until the very last episode where everything is revealed. After six episodes of massive twists and turns, it was finally revealed that DI Lindsay Denton was actually guilty. But it was not as simple as that because Denton was not guilty of being corrupt. Rather her one small mistake of taking the decision to try to save Carly Kirk led to the death of four police officers.
HIGHLIGHTS
As far as Lindsay Denton is concerned, she had always tried to do the right thing but it got her nowhere. After an unsuitable affair with Dryden, she had to abort her child. She was broke and had a sick mother as well. But when she tried to help stranger, things did not go well and eventually ended in murder and her life sentence. Poor Lindsay, I feel extremely sorry for her.
I think Kate Fleming has been extra-ordinary throughout this season. I liked the brief scene where she is drunk and demands the entry to her former house.
I was happy to know that young Carly Kirk made it out of the whole mess alive. Although I feel poor for her foster parents who seemed really distraught.
I love to see Arnott putting his ninja-level seduction skills to good use against Lindsay Denton while being undercover as he thinks that everyone underestimates him. The scene is quite interesting where Arnott uses his eyebrows to entrap lonely and single women. I do not say that I approve of him doing this action but it was interesting though.
I think "Line of Duty" Season1 was quite gripping stuff but Season2 was really a step up. It was more enigmatic, less sensationalized, quieter and more reflective, but absolutely captivating and interesting. It makes me shiver to think what Mercurio might conjure up for season three of the show.
It has been a pleasurably tortuous season of “Line of Duty” where we find answers in the last episode. But even in the last episode we do not get a feeling of satisfaction that the good guys are rewarded, the bad guys are caught, and the justice was served.
