Summary of Blood Money

DCC Dryden is brought to questioning regarding the speeding scandal after Steve Arnott and Kate Fleming persuade Ted Hastings for it. But Dryden is dismissive and uncooperative.

Arnott Steve informs him that Lindsay Denton has already revealed that he knew about the route of police convoy on the night of the ambush. Meanwhile, AC-12 also face a further problem regarding Richard Akers. Initially Arnott had assumed that Akers did not know anything about his wife’s corruption and had decided that he was not a priority in the investigation. When he is brought to question, Akers refuses to know anything about the money that is found under the floor boards at his house.

Hargreaves is convinced to some extent that this was the bribe given to Jayne to betray the escort. Although Akers reveals that that Jayne kept recordings of Hunter, that show Hunter threatening to inform on various parties, including corrupt police officers unless they confirm his witness protection and maintain his immunity. Jayne kept these recordings as leverage and stored them at a PO Box. A tracking device is also discovered in Jayne’s car when Steve Arnott and Kate Fleming examine it.

Moreover, in video evidence it is revealed that Tommy had a grievance against Dryden. Dryden is also seen criticizing the immunity given to Tommy. This suggests that Dryden is a corrupt officer. His affair with Lindsay Denton is also proved now.
On the other hand, Lindsay Denton gets a release from the prison so that she could visit her dying mother at the nursing home, but on the way back to prison her van is hijacked and run off the road.

Review of Blood Money

In this episode there is more passion, more weakness and more crooked cops. The case is closing in on one police officer, as Line of Duty’s thrilling but bleak revelations keep coming in.

According to me, Line of duty is at its best during the office scenes, and particularly the interviews, which are incredibly well-acted and well-created.
We could speculate from now till next episode and still be no closer to any answers. The fact that most of us will be doing exactly so is a proof that writer

Jed Mercurio has once again tapped into the right seam with this series. He’s withholding and revealing just enough in each episode to keep his audience wondering about what will come next.

HIGHLIGHTS

Hastings

Let’s talk about Ted Hastings in this episode. His dilemma in this episode - not wanting to pursue Dryden because the DCC Dryden held the key to his chance for promotion, pay-rise, and a reunion with his estranged wife - symbolizes Line of Duty’s basic conflict: the attraction of personal advancement versus professional duty. Who do you think gives in to temptation and who holds out? I think there don’t appear to be many in the latter group this series.

Kate's husband

Moreover, after Kate Fleming’s husband discovered the truth about Richard Akers, she found herself living in a motel. I, in fact, do find it refreshing that it's the woman cop who has this plot line for once.

What happend Lindsay?

In this episode, we did not get to see much of Lindsay Denton but when we did, she broke my heart. I loved the short moment where she considered freedom when the prison officers were asleep but then she realized that it was a hopeless idea.

AC-12

I'm quite interested in the lack of co-operation between the two departments (murder squad and AC-12). As we saw that murder squad clearly knew about the tracker on Akers' car but didn't inform AC-12 about it which led Lindsay Denton to be charged. I think there is something fishy about it.

S, Steve!

It is unbelievable that Steve quite likes women. That's one night with Georgia, a quick fling with the nurse, and now Rogerson, all of this is happening so fast. This makes me think that those eyebrows have some kind of magnetic pull all of their own.

L, Lindsay!

Moreover, just as it looks like Denton’s day has gone from bad to worse, it goes to worst. Her prison van is rammed off the road and her guards are killed. She is kidnapped by two officers involved in the disappearance of Denton’s missing person’s case, Carly. This raises question that how are the murder of a witness and the disappearance of a girl linked?
